Wake surfin’ HK’s sea

Eight years and counting in the city known also as Fragrant Harbour, but I have to admit there are still many things I have not done and experienced here. But today, my girlfriends and I decided to do something new to us all and go beyond the harbour… to try out wake surfing!

Janna, Kinga, Mehreen and I were all a bit scared, but very excited to try this water sport. So we arrived early at Sai Kung Pier, eager to get our adventure started.

What a lovely day to spend the Dragonboat long weekend!
Billy of Wakeland picked us up from beside Sai Kung public pier at 4:30pm as scheduled.

As soon as we got in the middle of the sea – Billy, our wake surf coach, gave us about five minute briefing. And then off we go into the water…

Feelin’ like a pro… with emphasis on the word feelin’. So yeah, this was not how our wake surfin’ started.

Took us a number of water flops and a bucket of sea water gulps before we successfully stood on the wake surf.

A summary of our first tries. 😂

But as they say, practice makes perfect… or almost perfect, in our case. Still, we were quite proud of our achievement of just being able to stand and wake surf… while being tugged by the boat!

Wake surfin’ Hong Kong sea

Aaannnd our two hour session finished just like that! Needless to say, we had loads of fun. Can’t wait for the next time!

Or maybe another new experience. Paragliding perhaps? Anyone?!

P.S. Since it was quite a trip going to Sai Kung, we made it a point to have a proper Mama’s day out with our dear, Karo.

Local tourists. 😊
Had brunch at Singaling’s – awesome food (with loads of vegan option) and service.
