Tong Fuk Beach: A perfect easy summer weekend getaway

It’s been more than a year of being stuck in Hong Kong and like everyone, I am craving for a nice vacation by the beach. But since we still can’t go anywhere outside the borders, we have to look for an easy summer getaway within the city that will make us feel like we are on vacation. And that is what Tong Fuk Beach in Lantau offers.

Tong Fuk Beach, Lantau: The fine white sand greets you as you come down to the beach area. But as you go closer to the shore, the white sand mixes beautifully with black sand.

The first time we visited this beach, we told ourselves we will definitely be back. We love that it has a beautiful white and black sand beach, the crashing waves that was just right for our little ones to play with, and that it was less crowded compared to the nice beaches in HK, even on a Sunday. Most people get attracted to the more known beach stretch of Cheung Sha beach, which you pass by going to Tong Fuk. But I feel like we can get more of a holiday feel with the latter, so we drive an extra two or three hundred meters to get to it from Tung Chung. For ease, we normally just take the blue taxi from Tung Chung MTR station. You can also opt to take the bus from there.

We found a nice little shaded spot to have our picnic facing the beach. This spot was our little corner too when we first visited Tong Fuk last year.
Lukey and the drunk shell!
We watched beach volleyball players. Next time, maybe weโ€™ll play ๐Ÿ˜‚
Aaron made sure I document this beautiful pattern on the sand created by the water (from the mountain?) going to the beach
Like any HK beach, itโ€™s not complete without a wild cowโ€™s presence!

But a perfect holiday always involve a yummy spread of food. And that is what makes Tong Fuk awesome. Just across the road from the beach, The Gallery awaits to serve you the best roast chicken in the city, ice cold beer and more tasty dishes! Definitey, a must-visit when at the area. Just make sure to reserve a spot in advance as they get busy during the weekends!

After our lovely dinner, we just waited for a bus just in front of The Gallery, which brought us back to Tung Chung MTR station.

And that folks was a perfect easy summer weekend getaway, indeed! Until the next time, Tong Fuk Beach. ๐Ÿ˜Š
