I miss the Philippines extra today.

We have just been to Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park and snorkeled our hearts out. It was beautiful and it satisfied our longing to be in the waters. Aaron thinks Hoi Ha Wan’s snorkeling site was better than last week’s Tung Ping Chau (which I don’t agree) with better visibility and more species of fish.
However, all I could think of while snorkeling today and playing with a never ending school of tiny fish was the last trip I had with my girlfriends in Coron, Palawan. That was already two years ago. Two years!!!
I miss the clear turquoise blue water of the Philippine seas, where you see almost all the colors in the live corals and different fish of all shapes and sizes! And don’t forget the turtles and the baby shark (as per Kinga’s account!)
Today, it was Lukey’s first time snorkeling and we were surprised at how he just put on the snorkel and just swam with us. Aaron and I are extra proud and happy that our two kids are also water babies. This made me miss even more my beautiful country. If only we could go home, see family and enjoy a snorkeling trip in one of the 7,107 islands… Ahhhh… home.

But as they say, when life throws you lemons… So, we take what we can get and discover beautiful Hong Kong. Going eight years here and there are many more places we have to see and experience.

Kayaking is one of the main activities in Hoi Ha but we passed on it today. We got so busy snorkeling and decided to relax by the beach while the kids enjoy building their sand masterpiece.

I’m pretty sure we’ll be back to Hoi Ha again… It’s only a red taxi away!
Kayaking
Two weeks later, went back to Hoi Ha to explore the rest of the marine park.

We rented kayaks this time to go to the other side of the bay. After over 30mins of kayaking, we made it to the main snorkeling site of Hoi Ha. We were rewarded with a vast coral garden. All the arm exercise was super worth it.

I would suggest to pack your lunch when heading to this site. We found some shade to have our little picnic!
Before heading back to the beach to return the kayaks, we passed by the snorkeling site beside WWF Hoi Ha Wan Marine Centre to visit a schools of fish, including Nemo and friends living in the area. The kids were super happy to see so many clown fish!
It takes about an hour to get to Hoi Ha from our place, but it’s definitely worth the time and effort! It’s a small paradise. So if you haven’t been, then what are you waiting for?

I did see a baby shark! No one will ever take it away from me!
